To add a new non-admin user in Mac OS X, do the following:Ĥ) Select the lock icon to unlock the interface.ĥ) Select the + (Plus) icon to add a new user.Ħ) Select Standard from the New User dropdown for the account type.ħ) Choose a username to use for this account. You will need to create a non-admin user on each Apple device you are planning on scanning. The environment I deployed Spiceworks in had approximately 75% Macs, 15% Linux and 5% Windows machines. If you are looking to scan a network consisting of primarily Mac or Linux machines, the best protocol to use is SSH (Secure Shell). Spiceworks has the ability to scan networks using a wide variety of networking protocols. The great thing about Spiceworks is the fact that it does not require a client application to be installed on each client machine in order to function.
